The lush vegetation, mountains, lagoons, rivers, beaches and sea combine to make the Garden Route a visual treat. We leave Knysna and travel further along the coast, passing pretty coastal towns and picturesque estuaries. On the other side of Plettenberg Bay the Bloukrans Bridge crosses a deep ravine, which is the site of the world’s highest bungy, a full 216m in height. We stop at the viewpoint for a look at this spectacular site, and an optional bungy jump.
Another 20km brings us to one of South Africa’s national parks, Tsitsikamma National Park. Tsitsikamma means “place of the sparkling waters”. With its rugged coast, thriving indigenous forest, panoramic views and abundance of fresh water from streams, this park is a paradise to visitors. We spend the afternoon in the park, which gives you ample time for different hiking trails and taking pictures, or just relaxing at the restaurant with its views over the sea.
